Pleasingly, the two properties are reserved for residents of a local background only, with the following eligibility requirements:
- Have lived within the AVDC district for 3 out of the last 5 years or,
- Have a permanent job or the offer of a permanent job wholly within the Aylesbury Vale District or,
- Have close family ties with family in the district (parents, adult children, brothers or sisters who have been resident in the district for the past 5 years at the time a Low-Cost Home Ownership allocation decision is made)
The shared ownership scheme allows those qualifying to buy a share in a new home (normally 50%) and to rent the remaining share at a subsidised rate. Over time, more shares in the property can be purchased.
